our story

About the Lodge

The Astrological Lodge of London was established on 13th September 1915. The Lodge met every Monday evening at 2 Upper Woburn Place before moving to the HQ of the Theosophical Society in the 1930s. Initially, the Lodge was designed by Alan Leo to ‘bring together’ astrology and theosophy, but this emphasis became distinctly astrological when Charles Carter was elected President in 1922, remaining in this role until 1954.

In 1948, the Lodge sponsored the founding of the Faculty of Astrological Studies and a decade later, in 1958, a group of Lodge members formed the Astrological Association.

The Lodge now meets once a month at Steiner House in London as well as providing online webinars to enable attendance by astrologers from across the world.

“Astrology is no mere system of fortune telling, but a Universal Philosophy. The object of the Lodge is to form a strong body of earnest students, able to promulgate ASTROLOGICAL TRUTH. In this work we bespeak the help of every serious student, each according to his or her capacity.”
