The Western Astrological concept of Secondary Progressions is a well-established technique used to explore stages of growth and unfolding human experience. Vedic astrology has a similar approach that focuses on Manusmriti – Sankrit writings that detail a system of progressions based around Hindu culture.

Astrological Lodge seminar PanditSanjayRathVisiting the Astrological Lodge of London for the first time, the celebrated Jyotish Pandit Sanjay Rath presents an Eastern perspective on progressions and examines these two, philosophically, very different systems and yet mathematically similar methods of divination. Progressions based around Hindu culture.

In essence, Manusmriti deals with the laws of how life has to be lived. Manu, believed that the Gods spoke to us through us and mooted the idea that a day in the life of the Gods or Devas, corresponds to a year of human life. Hence, a passing day for the Devas equates to the Sun’s progression through the zodiac by one degree lasting a year. Each annual progression of a single degree is linked to one thirtieth of a zodiac sign. Called the trimsamsa, these thirty different positions have specific significance in divining the events and destiny of the individual, which Pandit Sanjay Rath will explore in this talk.
