7:00 Carter Memorial Lecture - Conversing with Heaven - Deborah Houlding
Astrology presents a powerful, potentially mind-blowing, body of knowledge. Experience in horary has revealed that it is often easier to see the astrological truth of a problem, than to convey the message in a way which inspires confidence and avoids generating fear. Throughout the ages, master astrologers have offered words of wisdom about how to steer a safe course through the complexities of astrological consultation; but how does that advice stand up to the pressures of the computer age, with our modern expectation of instant access to information that was traditionally guarded, being of an ‘occult nature’?
Deborah Houlding has practiced astrology for over 20 years and has been influential in encouraging a wider awareness of traditional techniques and historical astrological texts. She is past editor of the Traditional Astrologer magazine, author of The Houses: Temples of the Sky, Principal of the STA School of Traditional Horary Astrology, and creator of the Skyscript website: www.skyscript.co.uk.

7:00 Annoyingly intelligent people - Frank Piechoski
This lecture examines astrological factors tied to intelligence. Using statistical research methods, hundreds of charts of people with Mensa-level intelligence are examined for common factors and the methodology explained. Individual charts will also be examined to show how the statically discovered factors operate for that particular person. This lecture will not be just boring numbers, but also a humorous look at what we regard as intelligence and how it relates to astrology.
Frank Piechoski is a professional astrologer who first began doing charts in 1976. His lectures include presentations at UAC, AFA, the Astrological Association of Great Britain, ISAR, NCGR, SOTA and numerous local groups. William Lilly and Reinhold Ebertin are principal amongst his influences. Frank specializes in electional, vocational, and forecasting astrology, working closely with both private clients and businesses. www.frankstar.com

7:00 The Zodiac Memory Theatre - An Alchemical Journey of Transformation Part 1
- John Wadsworth
In this colourful, experiential presentation, John will introduce the idea of the zodiac wheel as a complete journey of initiation and transformation. He will demonstrate how each zodiacal perspective offers us an authentic form of expression that corresponds to its place in the seasonal round, its place in the human life cycle, and its place in the human body - and how this is deeply woven into our cultural memory. Using music, mask and guided imagery, in the way of ancient mystery school traditions such as Mithraism and Ficino's astrological music therapy, John will present the zodiac as a memory theatre of creative possibilities, offering us a taste of the alchemical potential of each zodiac sign. John Wadsworth is an experienced astrologer and workshop facilitator, and is a pioneer of astrodrama and astrological theatre. He is the founder of the Alchemical Journey, an experiential astrological programme, which runs every month in Glastonbury, facilitating an imaginative process of personal transformation around The Glastonbury Zodiac. John has also been pursuing academic research in the field for several years and holds the MA in Cultural Astronomy & Astrology.

7:00 The Esoteric Significance of the Rising Sign - Janet Dare
Esoteric astrology focuses on the interpretation of the birthchart as the individual’s spiritual path, and maintains that it is the Rising Sign which drives the personality towards this. In the process of unravelling one’s spiritual goals, we will look at the complex that is the Ascendant, its esoteric ruler, and the esoteric ruler of the sign on the cusp of the house in which the Ascendant ruler is placed. The planetary rulers of signs in esoteric astrology sometimes differ from those used in “orthodox” astrology, and the ones used in this talk are based on the teachings of Alice Bailey. Janet came to astrology through her esoteric studies based on the Alice Bailey school, some 19 years ago, and has studied astrology ever since using it as a self-awareness tool. She has run evening classes in adult education as well as private classes for small groups, has lectured both abroad and in the UK, and sees clients from her practice in Kingston upon Thames.
Having originally commenced her formal studies with the Faculty of Astrological Studies in 1994, Janet holds the Faculty Diploma. She has also spent a year studying with the Centre for Psychological Astrology. A qualified, practising Medical Herbalist since 1988, Janet has also studied and run small groups on the Art of Decumbiture – a technique devised by the astrologer William Lilly and the herbalist Nicholas Culpeper using the birthchart of the illness as a basis of treatment for the patient. She is a qualified reflexologist and crystal healer and has studied the Tarot.
8:30 The Moon, Ascendent and the Lunar Mansions -(1) Sonal Sachdeva
In Jyotish (Vedic) astrology, the moon is considered to have as much, if not more importance than the Sun. In both Western and Vedic systems the moon rules one’s instinctual, feeling nature. However, the Vedic goes one step further to elevate the moon’s significance to predict, portend and identify one’s problems in the unconscious. The Vedic astrologer assists the client by helping them to become conscious of these issues. Using the Nakshatra system of 27 constellations – which offers considerable interpretative detail – Vedic astrology can throw light on our unconscious patterns, much like modern therapy. It can be applied to educate the client to recognise the seemingly unalterable dynamics they experience, to deliver different outcomes from what may have appeared fated.
These two classes explore Vedic’s lunar emphasis and how it can reveal our true nature. Originally a systems analyst and a systems, database and a website designer, Sonal has worked and lived all over the world. Her life experiences in India, Far East, North America, Europe gave impetus to the desire to connect with people from eclectic backgrounds. This spurred her into the study of astrology and making films to express her thoughts and emotions about the many interesting facets of people she has come in contact with. Her own reflections into self has also led her to become a practicing psychological astrologer and to be trained at the Centre for Psychological Astrology(CPA).

7:00 Murder Most Mysterious - Mike Harding
Murder holds enduring appeal. Real murders sell newspapers and fictional ones are the stuff of best sellers. While we can see that both examples allow us to be voyeurs to crimes that are forbidden by virtually all cultures, astrologers, like the hard-boiled detectives of so many novels want 'just he facts'. But what are the astrological 'facts'? This evening we shall explore the charts of murderers and their victims, together with their transits and some examples of Astro-Geography. Some crime writers' charts will also be discussed, but the evening will also include some thoughts as to the 'bigger picture'. How are 'murderers' to be defined; after all there are many that feel that Bush and Blair are war criminals. Is the concept of murder socially malleable, and if so, can there ever be a clear astrological signature?
Mike Harding is an existential psychotherapist and consultant astrologer. He is a senior lecturer and clinical supervisor at the School of Psychotherapy & Counselling Psychology at Regent's College. Over the years he has chaired the Astrological Association, the Association of Professional Astrologers and the Society for Existential Analysis. He is the author of Hymns to the Ancient Gods, co-author with Charles Harvey of Working With Astrology as well as many articles on both the technical and philosophical aspects of astrology. He has also published papers on the philosophy of language, with particular reference to the works of Freud, Heidegger, Joyce, Lacan, and Wittgenstein
